John Legend “Stay With You”
It feels so good and there is no doubt.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all the lovers out there. There’s always one song I think of on Valentine’s Day—the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding, “Stay With You.”
But in classic Ipcus fashion, you know we didn’t rock with the original. Nah, we had to use the live, stripped-down version, son. The album version is dope though, too. Let’s start there.
IP’S PICK OF THE DAY 2/14/26: John Legend “Stay With You”
Now to the live, piano-only version, which comes from the Solo Sessions disc (pictured below) I copped off John Legend’s site back when he was first buzzing. I remember I exchanged emails with him around the purchase and everything. Incredible. I love this version so much. I can’t front, every time I hear it I get mad emotional!

I’ve got a few more for you today. The first is another alternate version of a song off John Legend’s debut titled “Live It Up.” This was playing in my headphones (on the mixtape pictured below) the night I met Kanye West while I was walking into a recording session at Sony Studios, which is a story for another time if you’ve never heard me tell it. It has the original sample Ye used, which was reconstructed a bit for the album version.

Next, a super fun (and sexy) throwback. I got a random call from my man Matty B yesterday as we were both on our way to cop flowers for our wives. And we were laughing about how both our wives have told us in the past they don’t really like flowers, but also that for Valentine’s Day they do like flowers. In response to this, I joked, “Love is a wicked game,” to which Matty replied, “Chris Isaak!”
Finally, the ultimate Stan Ipcus love song banger (which I’ve posted on here before) featuring Matty B—“Hammer.” I put my hammer on, I put my hammer on for youuuu! LFG.
Let’s keep the love flowing everyone.
Peace!
